Sleeping Duck in Lotus Flower Amigurumi

Stuff firmly. Embroider two curved sleeping eyes low on the face and add a soft blush under each eye. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Stuff lightly. Shape the body into a tucked resting position rather than a firm upright oval. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

4. Wings (Make 2)

Stuff lightly. Flatten slightly and sew one wing on each side of the body.

5. Tail

With pink:

Ch 8.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Fold each petal gently at the base before sewing so it curves upward.

7. Outer Lotus Petals (Make 8)

With pink, then edge in light pink:

Join light pink and work a loose slip stitch or single crochet edging all around. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

This forms the inner cup that supports the duck. Stuff very lightly or insert a flat cardboard/plastic circle if you want a firmer display base.

9. Lotus Leaf Base (Make 2)

With soft green:

Row 1: starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc 10, 3 sc in last ch, continue on opposite side, sc 9, inc in last st. (24)

Fasten off. Sew these beneath the flower base so they peek out around the bottom edge.

10. Face Details

Embroider closed eyes with a gentle downward curve to create a sleeping expression.
Add a short lash or thicker outer corner if desired.
Blend a small blush patch under each eye using pink yarn or thread.
Sew the beak slightly downward so the duck looks tucked into the petals.

11. Assembly

Sew the beak to the front of the head.
Attach the head to the front of the body at a low resting angle.
Sew the wings to each side of the body.
Attach the tail to the back of the body.
Sew the 8 inner petals evenly around the inside rim of the lotus base, standing upright.
Sew the 8 outer petals around the outside of the lotus base, slightly lower and more open than the inner layer.
Attach the green leaves underneath the flower base.
Place the duck into the lotus and stitch the lower body to the center of the flower cup.
Tuck the head slightly to one side so it rests naturally among the petals.
Adjust petal angles and weave in all ends.
