7. Sunflower Center (Make 2)

Fasten off. Make one for the flower held in front and one for the head flower.

8. Sunflower Petals (Make 2 Flowers)

With yellow:

Join yellow to a brown center and work around:

(sl st, ch 3, dc in same st, ch 3, sl st in next st) repeat evenly around to create layered pointed petals.

Adjust the petal count to 10–12 petals per flower depending on how full you want the sunflower to look. Fasten off.

9. Leaves (Make 4)

With sage green:

Ch 6.
Work back along chain: sl st, sc, hdc, sc, sl st.

Fasten off. Make two leaves for the head flower and two for the flower held at the body.

10. Face Details

Insert safety eyes before fully closing the head.
Sew the trunk centered below the eyes.
Optional: embroider a tiny mouth line under the trunk tip.
The sample keeps the face very minimal, so extra detailing should stay subtle.

11. Assembly

Sew the trunk to the center front of the head.
Attach the ears to the sides of the head, slightly low for the rounded look.
Sew the head to the top of the body.
Attach the arms to the upper front sides of the body.
Sew the legs to the lower front so the elephant sits upright.
Assemble both sunflowers by sewing the yellow petal rounds behind the brown centers.
Attach two sage leaves behind each sunflower.
Sew one sunflower to the top of the head at a slight angle.
Sew the second sunflower to the front of the body so it sits between the arms.
Weave in all ends and adjust the flower placement if needed.
